Welcome to my home on the internet, where I post whatever I feel like posting. My name is Cosmic and I am a writer, skateboarder, guitarist/bassist, explorer of dreams and avid fan of the devil's lettuce. I'm also an amateur, very mediocre web dev trying to re-live the Geocities nostalgia through this site. This site is a product of boredom, and a fun creative project. So this site is also super experimental in terms of content, if that sounds cool, feel free to hang around I guess!

Twisted Stomach

03/05/2022 - 08:11am
Spicy food is the best, if anybody tells you otherwise, they're straight up wrong. However I learned the hard way that you should never overestimate your tolerance to heat. I thought it'd be a fun idea to see how much I could handle, so I grabbed a couple of thai peppers, and a big red habanero out of the fridge. And when I say big, I mean it, this was a big-ass pepper. But it's just a habanero, how bad could it be, right? Well it turns out that not all peppers are created equal. Which is why sometimes a jalapeno can seem almost like a bell pepper, while some jalapenos will melt your face off. The thai peppers went down with ease, and tasted great, then came the habanero. No joke, this was the hottest habanero I have ever tasted, I had to lie down and just sweat through the pain, the next day I had to work early in the morning and my stomach felt funky that whole morning. So, moral of the story: eat more spicy food.

Cosmic's T-Break-Break

21/04/2022 - 20:20pm
So 4/20 came and went here in the Netherlands and I happen to have a few days off work coinciding with this most joyous of holidays. I'm pretty sure I'm still feeling the effects of yesterday. I've been trying to improve my javascript skills in my spare time. Don't worry though, the layout of this site is staying old school. I also got rreally into buying plants for our balcony lately, right now I have some habanero seeds sitting in the window too, and i'm trying to grow a bonsai lemon tree from seed. So when I'm updating this site 10 years from now and still keeping it nostalgic, expect to see the final results of my bonsai experiment then.

Cosmic's T-Break: Day 1

16/04/2022 - 13:37pm
That's right, it's time for a little break from the jazz cabbage, I'm feeling alright now, but I'm sure it'll be unbearable once the boredom really hits me. But instead of just going and getting lit I'm gonna focus on my other hobbies. I'm not sure if this moment right now is the beginning of my break, or if I'll have one more of those mixed pre-rolls I wrote about before, really savour it and then start the break in the morning. Regardless of what happens, expect an update to this post later tonight.

Getting Up Early Sucks (kind of)

15/04/2022 - 08:15am
Like the title says, getting up early really does suck sometimes. I got so used to working evening shifts at my last job that I'd almost forgotten what it's like having to get up so early every day. Y'know what really sucks though? I need to get up even earlier in the morning if I'm gonna have enough time to get ready before leaving. I realised that fact this morning when I woke up at 7:20am and barely made it to the train on time. I'm getting up at 7am from now on I guess. Getting up early doesn't always suck though. Of course it sucks if you were up late the night before, have to immediately head to work after getting up etc. But I really like waking up early on my days off sometimes, nothing beats seeing the sunrise, eating hash browns and drinking coffee while you listen to some music or watch TV early in the morning.

15/04/2022 - 16:17pm
I'm on break in work as I type this and I'm so drained I just wanna go home already. Don't get me wrong, this job is great and the money is awesome. But right now I really just feel like sitting at home with some stormy weather outside. I'll probably also update this site a little more when I'm on the way home later today.

15/04/2022 - 20:31pm
Why does nothing ever work like it's meant to? Public transport wifi for example, it'll work perfectly fine all day every day until you actually have to send an urgent message or something like that. And when this happens, you'll inevitably end up on the one train in which the WiFi has decided it doesn't feel like working at this exact moment in time. There's a word for this phenomena my friends, and that word is "bullshit".

So I'm writing this on the train home from work, I was supposed to meet my fiance at the station when I get off, but because the wifi decided to crap out,I have no way of letting her know when I'll be arriving. So it looks like I'm gonna be walking home by myself tonight. Maybe it's my anxiety disorder, I'm not sure, but I can't be the only person who feels like shit is constantly stacked up against me, right? I'm one of those "bad luck magnet" accident prone, clumsy-ass, real unfortunate motherfuckers. It's a miracle therefore that I've managed to make it this far in life without tripping over my own shoelaces and tumbling off a cliff. Y'know what makes it suck even worse though? Having anxiety, seriously, one little thing goes wrong and it feels like the whole world is somehow out to get you. Anyway, this concludes this evening's ranting, at least for now.

Why I Love the Rain

07/04/2022 - 16:02pm
There's something about those cosy days when you've got nothing to do, clutching a cup of coffee in one hand, pyjamas still on and the weather outside is going batshit crazy.

Aww yeah, that''s the good shit!

Maybe it seems strange to say that I enjoy cold, grey rainy days, but I've always felt this way. Today is one of those days and as I'm writing this post, the rain is battering against the window and the chimes on the balcony are rattling quietly but constantly from the wind. What's even better is when you have to actually leave the house and go out in the bad weather. No seriously hear me out. Nobody likes feeling cold, nobody likes getting rained on and blown about by the wind. As you walk the streets you find yourself wondering "why the hell did I willingly leave my nice warm apartment on a day like this?" But the silver lining that makes it worthwhile is coming back home afterwards, feeling the warmth hit you when you step back through the door, changing into warm clothes, watching some chill TV shows or maybe playing a comfy video game, maybe reading a book. My mood hasn't been great these last few days, but this weather is definitely helping. Weather like this also helps motivate me to write and produce more content, it's probably the cosy vibes that make it easier for my thoughts and ideas to flow. Now if you'll excuse me, it's almost 4:20pm and I've got some crappy weather to go out in.

What Next?

06/04/2022 - 18:05pm
So I just got done writing a few crappy articles about the Mothman in Grand Theft Auto, and a short glitch guide for Bully/Canis Canem Edit. I'm thinking I should make some more gaming content, or maybe review a wrestling PPV. I'm still planning to make some "Prisoner of War" content when I get around to buying a mouse for this laptop, so that'll be fun.

Y'know what? Fuck it, I'm gonna add a guestbook to the site, why not ham it up and go full 90s with the site design? I mean, the web is still free, right? The answer of course is yes, despite what the internet conglomerates say.

06/04/2022 - 21:15pm
I added a guestbook to the site so now everybody can tell me how much it sucks! The link is on the left side of the homepage.

Big Site Update!

05/04/2022 - 00:22am
So I finally got around to making all of my links work. Content is still a little scarce but more is on the way, I might focus on the aesthetics of the site or the CSS for a little bit first though.

A Little Bit About Me

04/04/2022 - 00:52am
I'm a little bored so here's a list of some of my favourite bands in no particular order

Nirvana
Blink-182
Beastie Boys
Sublime
Green Day
The Misfits

POW

03/04/2022 - 15:39pm
Does anybody else remember this awesome game? I know I do for sure! As a kid this game fueled my history obsession. Leading to me later studying history at university.
Review in progress...

03/04/2022 - 20:12pm
Update: the game doesn't have any controller support, FML. And I'm not about to leave the apartment and head to the city mall just to buy a computer mouse, just to play one obscure old video game. At least not yet anyway, when I have to actually go there to pick up some other stuff, I'll look for a new gaming mouse. So don't worry, the Prisoner Of War content is still on the way!

New Article

03/04/2022 - 12:59pm
I just finished an article on why the 2006 video game Bully/Canis Canem Edit is a masterpiece. click here to check it out!

Lol 4:20

02/04/2022 - 20:47pm
It's not 4:20 here but it's probably 4:20 somewhere in the world and that's as good a reason as any to light up and get lit. But it's been snowing heavy here and it's cold as hell so walking to the store to buy a joint or some nugs feels more like a pilgrimage to Mordor and back. If this site is never updated again, you can probably just go ahead and assume the cold weather got me. By the way the site's still under construction I know, I know but it is, so don't be surprised if you come across some half-finished content or a few mistakes here and there. In due time, all that crap will get fixed.

21:40pm
Well I'm back from the weed store, nothing eventful happened but it's still icy cold outside. Being cold is better than getting rained on though, and I guess the end result was worth braving the cold weather. Our local coffee shop here in the netherlands has this one pre-rolled joint made with flower and hash. The quality of it can be a little hit-or-miss but when they're good, they're really damn good. I think I'll go try this one and then I'll report back with the results, oooh science!
Exciting!

22:40pm
So update, the hash and flower combo has me pretty damn baked. I sat out by the balcony door and at about the halfway point it hit hard! I promptly decided to save the second one for the morning to go with a strong cup of coffee. I'm really liking Neocities as a platform to post my random thoughts and other content to. It's also incredibly refreshing to embrace old school web development techniques, tables, deprecated tags and all. I mean, who really wants to spend forever trying to position div elements with CSS, when they know damn well the good old center tag works just fine. (only half kidding) I love being part of a community that embraces the philosophy of the old-school internet like this. I don't think legacy code support is going anywhere anytime , not with the ongoing rush to preserve and archive older online content. Neocities is the perfect platform to build and share websites with old techniques and pieces of code that may otherwise be forgotten, rather than be appreciated for their contributions to the internet of the past.

A New Beginning

01/04/2022 - 09:00am
So here we are, yet another redesign of my website, the old Neodex site index will continue to be maintained and curated by me though! You can find the link in the left sidebar. That's right I'm blogging on the homepage, somebody call the cops! Anyway, as I sit here on the train to work, with some douchebag sitting right next to me, pressed right up into me as if there aren't like 20 other seats available. Sometimes I really can't stand people. I've already been through covid hell, I really don't feel like going back. Another thing that I wanted to write about in this post if anyone cares, is my choice to cut down massively on ye olde devil's lettuce. Well, not entirely by choice, rather necessity thanks to my last employer deciding not to pay me when I had covid and then berating and belittling me for needing time off I said "fuck that" and rage quit that awful job to work somewhere much nicer. So I'm cutting it extremely close with rent this month. I'm pretty sure they broke the law but whatever, I don't work for those scumbags anymore so life is good in that regard I guess. Rather than spending my free time hitting the bong I've been playing video games to pass the time. Right now I'm replaying Hitman 2 and playing Skater XL when I get bored of Hitman. Anyway that's all for now, maybe I'll write another post on my break later.

13:35pm
It's another freezing cold day here in the Netherlands, and once again I find myself wondering what possessed me to move here in the first place. But I know once the rent is paid later we can relax a little and have some fun before worrying about the next damn thing we have to pay for comes along. Nobody ever told me adult life was such a pain in the balls dammit! I'm also considering using my youtube channel again for the first time in forever but I'm not even sure what kind of content to produce. Maybe browsing old web 1.0 sites and simultaneously shitting on web 3? That could be a fun time I guess, maybe I'll get to it when the motivation hits me, whenever that may be.

19:32pm
Guess who somehow saved up enough money in 2 weeks to cover the entire month's rent and have a bunch of spare cash left over? You're goddamn right! I was worrying constantly, to the point of nausea because I wasn't sure I'd have enough. Luckily our landlord is a super cool guy so I think he might have understood the situation regardless, but anyway, no need to worry about it now! Shoutout to my old boss, fuck that guy, he can rot in hell in that shitty dead end job for all I care! Time for a celebratory beer!

21:45pm
I guess it's time to add a new section to this site, I'm also planning to post a few game guides or walkthroughs, that'd be fun as hell. In the next few weeks I'll be adding more content and stuff to the sections over in the sidebar. Whatever I feel like writing first I suppose.
